Following the first book shipment that landed Hai Phong port back in January 2008, on March 08 2008, VCDS brought together a book giving event with the presence of representatives from various educational institutions and major sponsors. The event marked the first official exposure of VCDS as a non-profit organization to the Vietnam public.

The event, taking place in Hanoi National Library, drew the attention of the many reporters from reputable newspapers. Dr. Le Viet Thinh, President of the Hanoi Pedagogy University and Mr. James Warren, Counselor of Cultural Affairs from the US Embassy in Hanoi are among the special guests and key note speakers of the event. Also in this occasion, Mr. Pham Tien Dung, Chairman of the Petro Vietnam Finance Communication Company, announced the Company's commitment to sponsor VCDS's activities and assist the organization with transportation costs.

Present in the event were also representatives from various news agencies. VCDS's public image was widely spreaded after its being featured in several news articles and VTV1 - the official Vietnamese Television channel - afterwards:
